Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Pour into the vessel

Pour the ingredients into the vessel. The amounts above make the middle batch, for 4 to 6 servings. For 2 to 3 servings, use 1¾ cups pineapple juice, ¼ cup simple syrup, ½ cup spiced rum, and ½ cup coconut milk. For 6 to 8 servings, use 4⅓ cups pineapple juice, ⅔ cup simple syrup, 1¼ cups spiced rum, and 1¼ cups coconut milk.

  2. Select SPIKED SLUSH at 10 bars

Select SPIKED SLUSH. The preset starts at the default temperature. Adjust the temperature control to illuminate 10 bars for this batch; the rum and coconut milk need the coldest setting to set properly.

  3. Serve

Once the frozen drink reaches the right temperature, the unit will beep. Dispense and serve immediately, garnished as desired.

Where the calories live

The coconut milk brings the biggest share of the calories here, about 30 percent of the batch, with the spiced rum next in line.

About the alcohol

The pour is part of the flavor and part of the math: about 25 percent of the calories in every glass come from the alcohol itself.

Want a lighter scoop

Swap in light coconut milk and hold the sugar where it is. The texture stays lush and this panel gets friendlier.

Frequently asked questions

What are the three batch sizes?

For 2 to 3 servings: 1¾ cups pineapple juice, ¼ cup simple syrup, ½ cup spiced rum, and ½ cup coconut milk. For 4 to 6 servings: 3½ cups juice, ½ cup syrup, 1 cup rum, and 1 cup coconut milk. For 6 to 8 servings: 4⅓ cups juice, ⅔ cup syrup, 1¼ cups rum, and 1¼ cups coconut milk.

Why 10 bars, the coldest setting?

Alcohol and coconut fat both resist freezing. Running the temperature control at its coldest keeps this batch firm and slushy instead of soupy.

Can I make it without rum?

Yes. Leave the rum out, add the same amount of pineapple juice plus a pinch of cinnamon and nutmeg for the spiced note, and run the SLUSH preset.

Spiced rum or dark rum?

Spiced rum brings vanilla and warm spice that suit the pineapple. Dark rum works for a deeper, molasses leaning version at the same amount.
